We may start this trip in the village of Nová Ves v Horách (New Village in the Mountains), above which we can see the Strážný vrch (Guardian hill) with a wind power plant on top. A part of Nová Ves has been built on a steep hill slope between the Strážní hill and the border river Svidnice. Right at this hillside, just outside of the church of St. Michael we shall start our trip. We begin at the crossroad Nová Ves - Výšina and follow a field road towards Mníšek. We are going through a rugged terrain around the 4th and 3rd stops of the ET Flájská highlands focusing on issues of the former and current forests and pass by several timbered tourist rest places. From the border village Mníšek we continue along the Svidnice river and through the valley of Stříbrný brook (Silver brook). About 1.5 km after Mníšek we will have an option to avoid a steep uphill climb and go through a meadow towards a crossroad sign Kostelní cesta (Church road). To do so we must go straight through the forest intersection and follow the bigger path. However, we have to climb up one short hill in order to join the red sign again near the 7th stop of the ET.
Once we pass the Svidnice valley we will enjoy a beautiful section of our trip going through a young spruce forest. After this idyllic part of our trip, a change will come, as we encounter 1 km long and rather steep uphill climb to the top of Pestrý hill. Our reward for the difficult climb we will be beautiful walk on the open mountain ridge offering far reaching views of the Krušné Mountains and especially of the Czech Central Mountains showing off its majestic volcanic peaks. From the Jelení hlava (Deer Head) we go down on a paved road, which turns right towards the road to the dam Fláje (taking this road will enable us to avoid a steep downhill slope. We can than go back to the sign which follows the Pstružný brook valley and follow the main road and then join the forest road). However, those of you who enjoy steep terrain rides, may continue on the straight path through high grass area all the way to the valley. The valley of the Pstružný brook becomes gradually narrower and we will enjoy a comfortable downhill ride to Český Jiřetín. In Český Jiřetín we may admire the historical monument from the 17th century - the wooden church of St. John the Baptist brought here in 1969 from the flooded village Fláje. We also have here several options to refresh ourselves, which upon completion of the half of our trip will certainly come handy. When we pass the border and walk over the Bystrý brook bridge, we continue straight uphill, but behind the buss parking lot we begin with a steep climb and follow the field road which will take us above the valley. Along our way, we may admire beautiful views of the valley with the town of Český Jiřetín. When we leave the forest edge behind and stay between fields, we can already see the dam Talsperre Rauschenbach. During our downhill ride towards the dam and around the water dam Cämmerswalde we are passing by two war planes displayed on a garden belonging to a guesthouse. After we pass the dam, we soon begin to climb towards the main road. Here, as soon as we reach a sharp right turn we shall leave the road and keep left and then join a forest road (!!!Attention. There are 3 roads but the correct road is the third one!!!). Now we head towards 4 km long forest climb which will get even steeper towards the end. Following the ridge along the Czech and German border we are approaching a slightly rugged terrain which will take us to a tourist rest stop, where we join an asphalt road (Münzelweg) and then we will be finally going down towards Deutscheinsiedel. From the picturesque German town with a distinctive church we will return back to the Czech side and from Mníšek immediately after the border crossing, we will enjoy a comfortable downhill ride through the Svidnice river valley. After we pass another tourist border crossing at the beginning of Nová Ves we must overcome our last climb which will bring us to a square in the village called Mountain of St. Catherine. The dominating sight of this little town built on the Růžový vrch (Rose Hill ) is the church of St. Catherine and a stone viewing tower. From the square we take a sharp climb to the tower, where we are going to be surprised by wonderful views of the Svidnice valley and also by the Kateřinský brook valley. During our downhill ride from the of Rose Hill the green sign turns to the right, but we keep going straight on the road. Slight climb will take us back to Nová Ves. Total length 44.5 km.
