The extensive rocky area of the Elbe Valley also includes the towers situated on both sides of the Elbe between Děčín and the state border with Germany. On the left bank of the Elbe you can find 52 towers, among which there are several half massifs with tall valley walls. The highest and prettiest towers are to be found around Dolní Žleb; the others are not very prominent, mostly being hidden in the woods, and therefore they are often damp. You can access the towers from the following railway stations: Prostř. Žleb, Čertova Voda and Dolní Žleb on the route Děčín-Dolní Žleb. Towers No. 51 and 52 are accessed from the suburb of Jalůvčí, which can be reached by public transport from the main railway station in Děčín. It is possible to camp near tower No. 34 by a small pond that is ca. 250 m away. There are several springs of drinking water to be found in the rocks.
The right bank of the Elbe
is more valuable for climbers and therefore more sought after; it is often considered to be the most important part of the Elbe sandstone area. The towers, despite the fact that some have low upper walls, enjoy very high valley walls (of up to 80 m) and there is a wide selection of long and enjoyable routes. The sandstone is very firm. The area is a part of the Elbe Sandstone Protected Landscape Area. You can access the towers either from the Elbe from the bus stops Podskalí, Dolní Žleb-převoz and Hřensko on the ČSAD bus route Děčín-Hřensko-Vysoká Lípa, or from above from the bus stops Bynovec and Labská Stráň on the ČSAD bus route Děčín-Labská Stráň. It is possible to camp and stay in the open near Vojtěch (tower No. 42). Springs of drinking water can only be found in the central part of the valley.
This list includes only climbing walls on the right bank of the Elbe.
