Brána do Čech

The lowest located golf course in Bohemia, enjoying warm weather and therefore a longer season. It is situated at 146 metres above sea level, not very far from the massive walls of Terezín, a unique Baroque town - fortress (founded in 1780). The golf grounds are called Kotlina (Hollow Basin) and they are situated right next to the River Ohře. On one side the grounds go along the edges of the local park, and on the other side there are open views towards Litoměřice, whose towers are clearly visible. The area is flat and the grounds have been slightly landscaped.

Some holes might remind you of a links course and some holes are landscaped more like a park. Several larger water areas have been created here, which add to the beauty of the grounds, but make the game a bit more difficult. Terezín-Kotlina represents a big challenge for any player. Firstly, the course is long, from yellow tees it is nearly 6 kilometres long, four pars have around 340 metres each, and five pars around five hundred metres each. Fairways are fairly spacious but there is thick grass, well placed bunkers and several water traps. For example hole 3 is quite difficult, three par 177 metres (158 from the red) as the green is surrounded by water nearly from all sides. Even the two easiest looking holes are difficult to play because of the water - from the four par dogleg No. 4, with a beautiful green between trees, you can play straight into the water on your right and then into the brook in front of the green, at hole No. 9 there is a large pond right in front of the putting green. Not to mention the trees making your first stroke even more difficult. The course is suitable for all golfers but thanks to its exacting character it might be appreciated mostly by advanced players. If you manage to play the holes on their par, you will have a reason to rejoice.
