The village of Milešov
The chateau is a three-wing Baroque building attached to a two-story building reconstructed from an old Renaissance castle. The original Gothic castle was probably founded before the end of the 14th century. During the reign of the Kaplíř of Sulevice clan in the 16th century the castle was turned into a small Renaissance chateau with towers. During the second half of the 17th century, a new Baroque chateau was built according to the design of A. della Porta. The Baroque garden pavilion was built in 1707. After 1945 the chateau was used as an educational and recreational facility and in recent years as a retirement home for the elderly.
The Ostrý castle (553 m)
We are climbing through a beech and hornbeam woods, at first slowly but later sharply towards a shaped turn that will take us to the castle ruins. We continue uphill through rubbles covered with linden and maple trees and also through open spaces where we may catch a glance of the surrounding peaks of the Czech Central Mountains. The most beautiful views are from the below-the-top rubbles, for example view of Milešovka with Milešov (directly below Baroque church of St. Anthony of Padua), Francká mountain and Kletečná mountain) and also from the walls of the castle ruins reachable through the remains of the entry gate. The castle was founded in 1433; and in 1565 is referred to as deserted and abandoned but still admired by romantic soles:
