If you are exploring around Krupka and plan to take a trip, you should definitely take a ride in a cable car from Krupka to Komáří vížka (Mosquito Tower). This two-seat funicular was put into operation in 1952 and is the second oldest hanging cable way in Bohemia after the two-section funicular at Sněžka mountain; it is the longest passenger cable car track in Bohemia. The length is 2,348, making it one of the longest single-section tracks in Central Europe. The lower station in Krupka is located 326 metres above sea level, while the elevation of the upper station, Kněžiště, is 808 metres, meaning a rise of 482 metres. The capacity of the cable way is 225 people an hour one way. The cars leave the stations in 30 s intervals; the distance between them is 80 m; the speed of the cable is 2.5 m/s. A one-way ride takes 15.5 min. According to the available figures the cable way has transported more than 5.5 million people in the 56 years of its operation. The Komáří vížka cable way won an audience contest of the Czech Television called "7 wonders of the Czech Republic" in 2009.
