The Municipal Library in Libochovice was founded in 1920. In autumn in 1920 the local District Enlightenment Association invited all other local associations, that kept small libraries, to donate their books the library.
The library had to move premises several times during its existence. It moved into its current premises at the end of 1972. This building served originally as castle horse stables, then it was adapted to a puppet theatre and in 1972 the premises were altered again to house the library.
