Our tour through the centre of the Krušné Mountains may begin in the village called Mountain of St. Sebastian. From an historical point of view, the village is especially important thanks to its silver, tin, and copper mining activities and later also thanks to peat processing. We are leaving from the village square towards Nová Ves. In Nová Ves we leave the main road near the bus stop. Near the railway station, we will join a field road and head along the railroad track until we reach Přísečnický brook where we enter into Farský woods. Through this section we are riding on an asphalt road and occasional uphill climbs are fairly replaced with pleasant downhill rides.
Towards the end of our last and excellent downhill ride to the Přísečnická dam we come out of the forest and see our first view of the valley with the water dam. Down in the valley we join a road and go around the dam while enjoying views of the water and the ridge of Střední (Medium) and Velký (Large) Špičák hills, Černopotocký hill and on the right side, one of the highest peaks of Krušné Mountains - Jelení Hora (Deer Mountain) (994 m) Mostly climbing uphill, we reach the wall of the dam. When looking around from the dam wall we will certainly be attracted by Mědník Hill and the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception shaped like a rotunda. After passing the dam we need to overcome a major hill that awaits us before we get to the state border between the Czech Republic and Germany. But from the crossroad (terrain elevation post 878) we continue through a slightly hilly terrain around Rašeliniště Pod jelení horou (Peat bog under Deer Mountain) and around Novoveské peat bog. Thanks to section of the Novoveské peat-bog, which is deep 10.5 m at some places, the peat bog is considered one of the deepest peat bogs in the Czech Republic. Before we join the main road leading from the Mountain of St. Sebastian to Germany, we will pass through an attractive and open countryside with small brooks and lakes. This picturesque border region is however, hardly populated. To get to the car parking lot near the border crossing we have to follow the main road to Germany (at the parking lot you will also find a bus stop, market place and a restaurant). We are now out of the busy road again and keep on the right side of the parking lot and continue to follow the blue sign towards Nový dům (New House) – hunting cottage. Now we are going through a rugged terrain with several small hills, and pass the largest peat bogs in Krušné Mountains - the Novodomský peat bog. After we leave the road going to Načetín we begin to descend through the National Park, where we encounter wooden walkways over marshes, allowing interested visitors to explore the peat bog closer. Behind the New pond we will find a forest crossroad where we take a right turn over the peakHadinec and pass through a hilly terrain with small ponds until we reach Bezručovo valley(expect a short and steep downhill ride at the end which will certainly increase your adrenaline level). From the upper section of the long valley we will go down through a beautiful countryside until we reach the Mountain of St. Sebastian again. However, before all the meadows scattered around the village open in front of our eyes, we can enjoy views of the rocky riverbed of the Chomutovka river. Total length 43.5 km.
