Petrovice and its settlements are situated at the very eastern tip of the Krušné Mountains. Petrovice is mostly known as a border crossing to Saxony (Petrovice - Bahratal) but we should not forget that there are numerous historic and natural monuments around here.
The village of Petrovice (in German Peterswald) is situated north of Ústí nad Labe at 551 metres above sea level (the lower part of the village) right along the state borders of the Czech Republic and Germany. A brook flows through the village towards Germany. In the upper part of the village, you turn from the main road to the Tisá - Libouchec Road and also to Krásný les, that road will take you along the national border. For more information read here.

NATURAL LANDMARKS
- of the Protected Area Labské Sandstones - the border of the protected area runs along road no. 528 (Petrovice - Tisá) and the area to the east from the road is a part of the protected area. The same goes for Petrovice, if you go through the village towards Germany, on your right hand side you have a protected area, but not on your left. In the nearby village of Tisá you will find the well known natural monument Tiské Rocks, declared as a natural monument in 1996. The Labské Sandstone area also comprises the Rájecké Peat Bogs Nature Reserve located in Rájec u Tisé.
- The Olše Stream Niva Nature Reserve can be found at the very end of Petrovice, and it is only a stone's throw away from Saxony. The Olšový stream and its surroundings are very valuable as the growth on its banks is well preserved and there are several protected plant and animal species to be found here.
- Špičák Nature Reserve near Krásný Les - a basalt peak with caves, overhangs, wetlands and a variety of plants. Not so long ago the nature reserve was divided from Krásný Les by the D8 motorway. The peak of Krásný Les has a complex geological structure and is home to many protected species that like the local habitat of wet meadows, wetlands and springs in this location.
- The Nature Park of the Eastern Krušné Mountains - aims to protect the character of the mountainous countryside and to stabilise the local ecosystem, in particular the typical mountain meadows. Several especially protected plant and bird species were recorded here, even species listed in the Red Book.
- The bird area of Labské Sandstone and the Eastern Krušné Mountains - the eastern part of Krušné Mountains is well known as the nesting place of several rare bird species. This area can be divided (approximately) by the road leading from Tisá to Petrovice, to the west there are the Eastern Krušné Mountains and to the west Labské Sandstone.
- Trees protected by Tree Preservation Orders - The area of Petrovice is quite rich in trees that are protected by the Preservation Order. In Petrovice itself there is a larch tree (right next to the border, on the way to the Olšovský Stream), a lime tree in the square, a Turkish hazel in the middle of the village, an oak and elm tree in Krásný Les. Two protected lime trees can be found in Rájec u Tisé.
CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL LANDMARKS
- Petrovice - most buildings in the area around the Church of St Nicolas. The church can be found in the square, its tower is well visible but the roof is missing. The building is fairly damaged but the cemetery is well maintained. Recently, several crosses have been repaired. There is a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk and an Ecce Homo Column (spiral). There is also a staircase and a terrace that form a part of the church complex and are also listed. Not far from the church, behind some new housing there is the Church on a Cholera Grave, that is also a listed landmark. The Statue of the Madonna is another major landmark; in the photograph you can see a Baroque house, standing behind the statue and forming one ideological unit with the statue. Nowadays, the Baroque house has been turned into a restaurant.
- Krásný Les - the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the statue of John of Nepomuk and half-timbered house no. 207. Many similar houses can be found in the surroundings as they are very typical for this area.
- Nakléřov - is situated not far from Petrovice, you will find here a monument commemorating the battle of 1813 and a cross with an obelisk. On the site of the present-day cross there used to be a church and in the local restaurant you might like to explore the old photographs on the wall and search for the church.
- Rájec - a holiday village near Tisé that boasts severalhalf-timbered houses, some of which are now also used for permanent living. Apart from holiday cottages, there is also a chapel in Rájecnear the national border anda cross, that is standing on the road from Tisé to Rájec.
- Tisá - there are several historical landmarks in TisáSt Anne's Church, above which you will find a WW1monument dedicated to the victims of the war, next to the entrance to the ski-lift you will find villa no. 349, which is also a listed building. There used to be severalcrosses in the village, near the Children's Home and in the part called Antonínov. The house by the Children's Home is interesting as it used to serve as amill and locals still often say that they are going to the 'mill'.
- Ostrov - a second holidy resort near Tisá. There are several half-timbered houses to be found in Tisé, that are protected by the state.
