The modern art gallery, situated in the former castle riding hall, shows the work of some exceptional artists like Antonín Slavíček, Emil Filly, Jan Zrzavý and Václav Špála. It has more than 3,000 pieces of art in its collection dating from the end of the 19th century until the present. There are many additional activities organised by the gallery, not only exhibitions, but also lectures, concerts, theatrical performances, literary evenings and many other cultural programmes.
The building of the castle riding hall was designed by the builder of the castle in Roudnice Antonio Porta and it was built in the second half of the 17th century. The Modern Art Gallery that now resides in the building can boast many valuable pieces of art created by Czech artists in the 20th century. The collection of paintings by Antonín Slavíček is quite extraordinary.
