The dominating Doubravka hill cannot be overlooked. So we leave the picturesque spa Teplice and follow the street Pod Doubravkou and then the street of Josef Suk. Here, right from the beginning of our trip we will visit several greenhouses inbotanical gardens. Above the entrances to these greenhouses we will see a stone sculpture of Mayan god Yum Kaax, the defender of wild plants and animals. You can see here many attractive and little-known species and plants. Right at the entrance hall we will be surprised and fascinated with an exhibition ofcarnivorous plants. We may see here three different exhibitions. Desert and semi-desert (xeric), tropical and subtropical. So, here we have a unique opportunity to take a quick trip around the world. Right from the beginning a hot and dry desert air exactly as in South America will blow over us. Around Mexican Pueblo, we will see struggling cactuses and other shrubs and trees fighting for water. Other glass door will let us inside atropical rain forest. In the humid air constantly watered with tiny rain drops we will see among various palms a small lake, waterfalls, rare orchids and colourful aquarium fish. The jungle image and atmosphere is further enhanced by mysterious sounds produced by invisible forest creatures. Before the end we enter into a climate which is most suitable for us. The subtropical forests and mountains of Australia and New Zealand. In addition to our trip around the world we can also take a short trip into the past. This we may accomplish by visiting a small exhibition, "The creation of the brown coal. We go back 18 million years in time and see plants like those which use to grow here in the distant past. During the tour, we will learn many interesting facts. Our undivided attention also discovers the most valuable plant - hundred years old African pine tree Afrocarpus gracilior, various orchids, rhododendrons, cactuses and hundreds of other interesting plants know to us from crossword puzzles only. The heat is slowly becoming unbearable so we leave the greenhouse and refresh ourselves in the garden area in a pastry shop and cafe. Before our trip is over, we may enjoy a walk through a magic garden exposition. We are leaving the colourful flora and head for the slopes of the nearby Sand hill. We are passing by a newly constructed children playground with many fun rides and challenging climbs and jumpers. We may spent a while here but then we leave and follow thegreen tourist sign. This sign will take us to magic places of the former sand quarry , whose southern and northern slopes are covered with fruit tree alleys. Around the top we will find several interesting rocky walls and also viewing post offering beautiful views of the Teplice town. In this oasis of tranquility we will find an observatory open to the general public and offering direct observations ofspace objects. These services are mostly for pre-school, school children and non-experts. On a clear day we may also observe the surface of the Sun, the so called photosphere. We may also observe Sun spots, which are relatively the coolest areas on the Sun. During the day we may also observe the planet Venus, provided that Venus is in a suitable position relative to Earth and the Sun. We may also see the Moon, during the day, but Moon is best observed at night. On the Moon you may see craters, mountain ridges, Moon seas and other interesting details. With "out of this world" feelings we are leaving the observatory and follow the green sign and head for the Doubravka mountain with well-preserved remains of fortification walls, water trench and partially preserved round tower. The route passes by the top and taking an easy way around it, and those who are not tired and do not intend to miss unique views of theTeplice town, the Czech Central Mountains, Krušné mountains and the coal field, can climb up the yellow trail or take a car and drive there. To return back to the botanical garden we take the Pod Doubravkou and Josef Suk street again. Full of wonderful experiences we leave the town eager to see our next adventure.
